You probably know that cheap devices on Windows are not appealing and worthy like Chromebook. Yeah, the Chromebook is so fantastic at low price level as you see they put of 1080p panel, aluminum construction, and all of stuff for not more than 300 dollars. Starting it from two years ago I guess, companies like Acer and ASUS seems to drop their product price lower and finally we can afford of good device for less than 400 dollars. The Acer Swift 1 SF113-P5C5 is the thing that we expect from low budget system.
It features of 1080p screen which is not common here, aluminum construction, and worth hardware specs. The battery is average here, but considering of getting those amazing things for price, I think the battery issue is covered here. I think it’s worth for us to take peek into it and see how it works. That is what we are going to talk about here. We are going to talk about it further on this article. To make it easier for you to understand, let’s we jump into the article.
Simplistic, But Yet Durable Design
The Swift features a simple design, but looks so durable. The chassis is created from aluminum construction that finished in matte gray, pink, or black colors depending on your choices. Some plastic accents are placed around its 13 inch panel. The bezel surrounded the panel is quite thin and I never get bothered anymore by black and thick bezel. The only detail to find here is the company logo that placed at the center of lid. The most interesting to find here is probably on its weight. The system is weight for just 3 pounds with dimension at 13.4 x 9.2 x 0.7 inches. This is not the lightest devices available right now, but still worth to mention here.
The port connectivity is complete here. It fits of modern and standard ports together here. On left side, there are micro SD slot, USB 2.0 ports, and Kensington lock slot. On the other side, you soon find a type – C port, two USB 3.0 ports, and audio jack slot. ASUS is so generous on making it so well complete here. I never find similar devices with as complete as this product. This might be the reason for you for getting it back home.
Display And Input Devices
The 13.3 inch screen is featuring of 1080p panel that easily kill its competitors. The Lenovo 320 itself only features of 1366 x 768 resolutions which is not good enough for standard nowadays. The Swift display can produce of 125 percent of SRGB color and far superior than Vivobook or Dell Inspiron that only have 68 percent and 71 percent. At the same time, the brightness is something proud to have here. The 266 nits is good standard for outdoor usage. Even at directly under the sun, the screen is still easy to look at. Just make sure to push the setting little bit when you are in this situation.
Move to its keyboard, the thing is decent in my opinion. The 1 millimeter travel key requires you 71 grams of punctuation force. The keyboard is quite shallow for some reasons and if you have long nails means you either need to pick another laptop or cut it off. I am able to type for around 75 words per minute with minimal error rate. Just make sure to get used with it for a while for getting maximize result.
|Acer Swift 1||Main Specs|
|CPU||Intel Quad Core N4200 1.1 GHZ|
|Graphics||Intel HD Integrated Card|
|OS||Windows 10 Home|
|Memory||4GB DDR3 Memory|
|Storage||64GB Flash Storage|
The Intel Celeron N4200 and 4GB RAM is going to be your companion for a while now. The performance is very standard and only good for light and medium usage like browsing, editing document, and streaming movies. The 4GB RAM is big enough for all those activities but sadly, its storage is limited even though it’s faster than any standard HDD. The 64GB EMMC is limited as the Windows 10 takes around 20GB and leaves you around 40GB space. The storage is not expandable as it’s embedded on motherboard. Luckily, it transfers file very fast where 5 GB data takes less than one minute to copy.
My biggest concern is mostly in battery life. It only lasts for 7 hours in heavy usage and get 2 or 3 more hours in light usage. Reducing brightness and putting it on power saving mode do not help that much. The only solution is bringing the charger all around as this is the only way for adding more percentage on battery. To be fair this result is still better than some laptops, but once again it can be better just for little more.
The Swift 1 is my top recommendation choice if you want some high quality affordable system. Acer proofs that low budget laptop does not have to be bulky and bad for all the time. This is good news as in future we might see more and more better options like this product. Just for now, why do not you take this one as the replacement for your old machine? The choice is yours, so feel free to take any consideration. I just hope the information is good enough for you. See you again next time and have a good time.
